navin-cli: free terminal AGI, same brain as the desktop

September 4, 2026 · 1 min read · Navin team

Install navin-cli, switch mode, resume a session, see the git branch. Navin's free TUI on Windows, Linux, macOS.

navin-cli is the free terminal surface of Navin. Not a demo. Not a second product. The same AGI as the desktop: model, tools, memory, permissions, sessions.

If you searched for a free AI coding CLI, a local Claude Code, or a TUI that does not lock you to one vendor, this is the install path.

Install

curl https://navin.live/install | bash
cd your-project && navin-cli

Windows: the PowerShell one-liner on navin.live/download#cli. The same page has Windows, Linux and macOS desktop builds. The title Your AI AGI 100 % free on the home page goes there too.

What you see

A framed prompt. The top of the frame is the mode: ctrl+t ● agent. Click it, or press ctrl+t, and you pick agent, ask, plan, review, security or debug.

Under the frame, reopens the panel when it is hidden. The panel is the control board: provider, model, session, git branch, workspace, account. Every row is a shortcut.

Your last session comes back. ctrl+s lists the others. ctrl+n starts a new chat. Esc stops a turn.

Same brain as the window

~/.navin/config.json is shared. Set a provider once. The desktop and the CLI both see it. Skills, MCP, guardrails: ctrl+g.

That is the difference with a kit you assemble on Saturday. Monday you are in the folder.

Versus the names people type

  • Claude Code: paid Anthropic terminal. Excellent loop. You rent it.
  • OpenCode: open TUI. You assemble it.
  • Oh My Pi: dense Pi fork. You inherit the fork.

The long article: navin-cli versus Claude Code, OpenCode and Oh My Pi.
